(I posted this review on yelp.com and thought I’d share it here) I visited Boulder’s Natural Animal for my schnauzer’s skin problem over the summer. I liked the environment right away when I walked in. They weighed my dog and took her temperature as usual, but the environment was very calm and relaxing and “non-doctors office-ish”.
The receptionist was in everyday clothing and after a short wait the vet came into the room to see me. I appreciated that he was dressed casually as well… for some reason that makes me feel more at ease. He didn’t once put my dog up on the metal table – although they did bring in a blanket in case she needed to be up there. He knelt down to her level and examined her on the floor which made her more comfortable as well.
Because this is a holistic, more alternative, vet we discussed diet and other factors that may be causing her issue rather than focusing entirely on treating the symptom. I wholeheartedly liked that I was not pressured into vaccinations since I do not agree with the typical vaccination schedules (which was why I sought out this vet). I received some helpful paperwork on diet (including homemade) and supplements and other herbs which included dosages. He customized this list based on my dog’s weight and other factors.
The exam fee is a little higher than some vets, but I think it is definitely worthwhile because of the longer visit and more in depth approach to diagnosis.
Wonderful staff and caring doctor!
